He's thinking "ohhh, fuck yeah, what a manly way to go, shot right in my navel by another dude, right when I let my guard slip. . ."

So true! Poor guy knew he was fucked for having such a big gut, but he stuck it out like a man anyway, even up to his final moments! Just another dude gunned down in a firefight ;)
